General
Terms and Definitions:
Atmosphere
Coordinator (AC) - Works directly with the
extras. This includes checking you in and out each day,
checking wardrobe and props, informing extras of general
procedures and behavior, helping with payroll information,
and answering any questions that you may have.
Assistant
Director (AD) - Is responsible for the placement
and direction of extras on set. They provide a realism that
enhances a scene.
Atomosphere
- Also called extras or background players. Extras are the
the non-speaking people in the background of movie scenes.
Bit
- A bit role is a non-speaking extra who
interacts with a principal actor in a directed manner. Example:
A waiter handing the check to the actor.
Call
Time - The assigned time that you must be
on set, dressed and ready to work.
Holding
Area - The area where the background are
held while not filming.
Principal
- A cast actor who has speaking lines.
Stand-In
- Stand-ins are cast because of their physical
resemblance to a principal actor. Used for camera rehearsal,
lighting and general set up.
Wrap
- The end of the shooting day.
